About the Event
About the exhibit: The first, "Madonne", depicts naked Aymara women with different body shapes calling upon their sensual energy to confront the desexualization of native women and the view of them as only a workforce in Bolivia. The second, "Metamorphosis," is black and white paintings portraying an ode to her ancestors. Finally, "Their Glances" is a series of Aymara faces liberated from the folkloric perspective, incarnating vibrant colors and establishing the idea that indigenous peoples are not only the caretakers of Mother Earth but human beings with the potential for both great evil and goodness, idealizing them is dehumanizing them.
